This month we revisited the McLaughlin Grows Urban Farm with Community enCompass in Muskegon. We couldn’t believe it’s been 2 years since we last volunteered! This time we worked at a different site. It had an abundance of produce growing! They had collard greens, onions, kale, and so much more! Everyone picked a row and committed to getting those nasty weeds out! It was hard work! That afternoon of work flew by. As we worked we learned a little bit more about the garden and those that work there. Their staff is so passionate about the community and their gardens. We not only provided our time but also a donation which will go to help increase accessibility of CSA boxes and cover the fees of members who couldn’t pay because the process of being able to accept food stamps has been delayed by the state. We are so grateful for McLaughlin Grows and the positive impact it has on the community! Take peek at this video below to get more of a peak into the garden and the mission!
